Reception and admission at the clinic

Upon arrival at Vision Clinique, you are welcomed by our admissions department.

This administrative step allows us to:

  • Verify your insurance card
  • Collect your completed anesthesia questionnaire
  • Finalize the payment of the intraocular lens if necessary
  • Provide you with a secure identification bracelet
  • Give you an official admission letter with the exact time of your clinic admission, sent about a week before the surgery

Day Clinic reception

In the Day Clinic service, you are taken care of by our team of nurses and care assistants.

They perform a series of essential checks:

  • Identity verification (bracelet)
  • Confirmation of the type of procedure and which eye will be operated on (right/left)
    • Short medical history to verify:
    • Whether you are fasting
    • If you have any known allergies
    • If you are taking any current medications

Preoperative preparation

Before the procedure, a specific preparation is carried out according to the protocol defined by your surgeon:

  • Dilate your pupil with eye drops or a Mydriasert (a device placed under the eyelid)
    • Accompany you to the changing room to:
    • Change with the help of a nurse
    • Remove makeup and jewelry if necessary
    • Perform hand washing and disinfection
  • Perform a final identity check before your transfer to the operating room

Reception in the operating room

The anesthesia nurse welcomes you in the SAS (sterile waiting area) before the procedure. They:

  • Help you get settled on the operating table
  • Review key elements with you: allergies, hearing or dental prostheses, mobility, current medications, eye to be operated
  • Ensure you are still fasting
  • Insert a venous catheter if necessary
  • Begin local eye preparation (anesthetic drops and disinfection)
  • Monitor your vital signs: heart, breathing, blood pressure

The surgical procedure

As soon as the operating room is ready, you are transferred to the surgical suite. There, all the monitoring equipment is set up, a final identity and procedure check is performed, along with a second disinfection of the operated area.
The surgery can then begin, performed by one of our FMH-certified ophthalmic surgeons, assisted by an experienced team in a sterile and controlled environment.

Postoperative monitoring and discharge

After the procedure:

  • You are accompanied to the changing room to get dressed comfortably
  • You then stay in the recovery room for about 30 minutes
  • A light snack is offered to help you recover
    • The nurse:
    • Checks the postoperative form
    • Gives you the surgeon's instructions (medications, care, follow-up appointments)
    • Makes sure you leave accompanied, depending on the type of procedure performed
